The Ivan Allen College Student Advisory Board (SAB) is now accepting applications for new members.  This is a great opportunity to be the voice of your major, an ambassador for the liberal arts, get to know the IAC administration, and work towards strengthening our community.
Deadline: Wednesday, March 2nd, 2011
Don’t delay, openings not always available each year!  Have questions?  Talk with current PUBP SAB rep Austen Edwards and Michael Tallini or even me as I have been one of the Advisors to this group since 2003.

Wanted! Awesome IAC students for annual awards

Nominations for the IAC Student Advisory Board Awards are now being accepted! Independent student nominations of other students and student self-nominations are acceptable and strongly encouraged. Nomination made by Faculty are also accepted.  Deadline is By MARCH 7TH.
This year’s awards and criteria include:
Student Leadership Award:

The applicant is or has been the leader of an organization
The applicant has significantly improved the organization that they lead
The leadership of the applicant has inspired or led to positive change in Ivan Allen.

I am Liberal Arts Award:

The applicant has shown consistent commitment to community service.

PUBP alum Wellkamp wins Marshall

Nick Wellkamp, who graduated from Georgia Tech in 2009 with a 4.0 GPA and majors in ISYE and Public Policy, has won the Marshall Scholarship.  One of only forty students in the US to achieve this honor, Nick intends to use the Marshall to attend Oxford University to study for a master’s and PhD in Economics.
Nick was president of the GT Student Government Association, interned at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, the US Department of the Treasury, and the Center for American Progress, where he specialized …

An IAC alum, who had developed a strong interest in public health issues in her senior year, recently graduated from Harvard’s Master in Public Health program and is now working at the National Cancer Institute/National Institutes of Health. Her job is under the Presidential Management Fellows program, through which students with recent diplomas at the MS or PhD level can work for two years in several federal agencies, developing leadership/ management skills, organizational knowledge, professional contacts, etc. It’s a great program, and BSPP students thinking about grad school …
