Hey Friends!
This is my first update from the INNOVATE 2010 trip, but I would like to let you know how fun Asia is! As Dr. Barke has explained in his previous posts, the purpose of the INNOVATE trip is to provide students with an international experience in Asia studying the convergence of globalization, policy, technology, and science. On Sunday some of the Georgia Tech delegates and other students visited an orphanage run by Buddhists in Saigon. Many of the children are left at their temple, or even by the side of roads, often by extremely young mothers who had received absolutely no sex education and were totally unprepared for motherhood. The orphanage has 127 children currently. We took up a collection from the INNOVATE delegates and donated over $500 to the Buddhist nun who guided our visit .
