CS 1803 POC Principles of Computing: Apps for Everyone

This summer the College of Computing is offering a course involving the development of mobile applications and the impact of mobile computing.  This course is meant for non-computing majors and does not have any pre-requisites.  Students will use App Inventor for Android (a visual programming language) to create prescribed applications (plus a final project application of their choosing).  We will also discuss the global and social impacts of mobile computing, and explore how existing technologies work. The University of Georgia has a Semester in Washington, D.C. program you should consider applying for.
To be considered for participation in the Washington Semester Program, students must meet the following criteria:

3.0 minimum cumulative grade point average.
At least Junior class standing by the term of participation.
Good disciplinary standing.
Completion of the Federal and Georgia Constitution requirement.

The Alvin M. Ferst Leadership & Entrepreneur Award

The Division of Student Affairs is pleased to announce the availability of The Alvin M. Ferst Leadership and Entrepreneur Award for 2012. This $2,500 award goes to a junior or senior with at least a 2.5 GPA who has demonstrated extraordinary leadership and/or entrepreneurial skills while at Tech.

PST courses change to PHIL courses

New this term: All former Philosophy, Science and Technology (PST) courses have been changed to Philosophy (PHIL) courses. On the Degree checklist, please change PST 2020, to PHIL 2025. This course is the same course (Philosophical Analysis in Policy Choices), with a new course number. The course is only offered in the spring, and is being taught this spring by Michael Hoffman.
