Ethics Module

For School of Public Policy Ph.D. Students

This reading and working module is intended for those Ph.D. students who have no background in ethics. Since ethical and value questions are central in public policy discussions, it is important that students be acquainted with the main theories and styles of reasoning in normative discourse.

The Ethics Module is taught in form of a “Ph.D. Ethics Workshop” that will be offered once or twice a year (preferably in the summer break). To prepare the workshop, participants have to read:

Bruce N. Waller, Consider Ethics. Theory, Readings, and Contemporary Issues (New York: Peasons-Longman, 2008).

The workshop is based on presentations and discussions of chapters of this book. Grading is pass/fail. To register for the workshop, please contact . The date for the workshop (usually one afternoon) will be determined by agreement.
